The NUFF 2018 jury
NUFF has two jurys: the Nordic jury and the international jury.
The Nordic jury has to find 4 winners, one best film for each age group and one best Nordic film, this last award is 10 000,- NOK sponsored and presented by Foreningen Norden Norway.
The international jury will find one winner for the best international film.
The winners will be presented at the award ceremony on Sunday 1st at 19:00 at TVIBIT. Admission is free.
The award statuettes are manufactured by Blåst Glasshytta AS in Tromsø.
The International jury
Alessandro Belleli, Norway/Italy
Visual Anthropologist, filmmaker and photographer of the Arctic, Alessandro holds a Master in Cultural Anthropology with a focus on Greenland-Denmark relations (Genoa & Copenhagen 2011) and a second Master in Visual Anthropology (Tromsø, 2015) with fieldwork in urban Brazil. He has been living in Copenhagen, Utrecht, San Diego, Sao Paulo, Sisimiut, Tromsø other places, acquiring different cultural belongings.
From 2009 his works has focused on the photographic, video and written representation of the Arctic, together with a project about the digital life of young Brazilian creatives. His works have been published and shown by different cultural institutions and media like the National Italian TV (RAI), the Italian Polar Institute, the Museum of the Cultures of the World (Italy), the National Norwegian TV (NRK).
Mohamed Jabaly, Palestine/Norway
Mohamed is a 28-year old Palestinian filmmaker and artist from Gaza based in Norway. He has been working in several organisations and projects, training kids and young adults within filmmaking and photography. He has shot several short films, documentaries and music videos.
Mohamed finished his first feature documentary “Ambulance”. The film has won several prizes including the "One World Media" as Best Feature documentary 2017. Mohamed also received the "BBC Arabic Young Journalist Award" and the "FIPA D'OR AWARD" and “JURY AWARD” as best feature documentary during FIPA in Biarritz, France. Currently, Mohamed is working on his next documentary “Stateless”.
Lasse Gjertsen, Norway
Lasse is a Norwegian animator, video director and musician. He is best known for his videos and cartoons from Youtube's early days, and is considered to be one of the first Youtube-personalities. Lasse has created short films, music videos, infomercials and commissioned work for TV, web and oddly enough even for the Norwegian royal family.
The Nordic jury
John-Kristian Dalseth, Norway
John-Kristian Dalseth works for the Tromsø International Film Festival [TIFF], as the program manager for the Films From The North, the festival’s sidebar for short films and documentaries. He is also the production manager at Verdensteatret cinema, which is operated year round by TIFF.
Thomas Skogstad, Norway
Thomas moved to Tromsø in the start of his twenties. Since then he has found a deep interest in film and culture and has been active in the TIFF community for several years now. He´s now a board member for the Tromsø Film club since 2014 where he has worked on crafting together a handful of screening programs, amongst them the sci-fi program which was previewed on TIFF.
Leif Holst Jensen, Norway
Leif Holst Jensen (1965) works currently as Head of Westerdals Institute of film and media, at Kristiania University College, Oslo, Norway, with 600 students in film, tv, visual effects, games design, 3D-graphics and journalism, being one of the largest Media Schools in Scandinavia. They work closely together with the production community in Oslo.
For more than ten years he was the general secretary of the Norwegian Film, TV and Games Producers Association, and chairman of the Norwegian TV Awards. He has varied directing, producing, project manager and editor experience from the national broadcaster NRK, Head of Arts and Culture in Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and Program Director of Metropol TV.
His education is from media science, journalism, law, and has an MBA in strategic management from the Norwegian School of Business, NHH. For the last six years he has been the deputy at Foreningen Norden
